Czech PRT Logar accomplished its mission on 31 January 2013.
NATO Operation in Afghanistan
The Czech Republic operated its own Provincial Reconstruction Team in the Logar Province from March 2008 to January 2013.
The Czech authorities responded to calls of allies for reinforcement of allied military presence in Afghanistan in support of success of ISAF operation in suppressing Taliban activities and in support of the Afghan Government.
The ACR participated in the NATO International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan since 12 March 2004, while the first Czech contingent of PRT commenced its service in Logar on 19 March 2008.
The task of the current 11th Czech Unit is to close national participation in projects, conclude relations with contractors, and prepare material and equipment either for transport back to the Czech Republic or its transfer to local authorities and security forces.
Commander of the 11th Czech Unit Major Vladimir Jelinek assumed the task on 31 January 2013.
The core of the 11th Unit is formed by soldiers of the 44th Light Motorised Battalion based at Jindrichuv Hradec, which is a unit of the 4th Rapid Deployment Brigade based at Zatec. The Unit is complemented by specialists from other 15 units and installations of the Czech military.
