NATO Operation in Afghanistan
The Czech Republic operates its own Provincial Reconstruction Team in Logar
The Czech authorities responded to calls of allies for reinforcement of allied military presence in Afghanistan in support of success of ISAF operation in suppressing Taliban activities and in support of the Afghan Government.
The ACR have participated in the NATO International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan since 12 March 2004.
Commander of the present 5th ACR Unit in PRT Logar Colonel Rudolf Honzak assumed operational task as of the 23 February 2010. Soldiers are being deployed for six months.
The Czech PRT comprises both military and civilian part. The core of the military part is formed by soldiers of the 72nd Mechanised Battalion based at Praslavice, 13th Artillery Brigade based at Jince, and soldiers of the 43rd Airborne Mechanised Battalion based at Chrudim, Czech Republic, complemented by other soldiers of necessary specialisations.
