NATO Operation in Afghanistan
The Czech Republic operates its own Provincial Reconstruction Team in the Logar province
The Czech authorities responded to calls of allies for reinforcement of allied military presence in Afghanistan in support of success of ISAF operation in suppressing Taliban activities and in support of the Afghan Government.
The ACR have participated in the NATO International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan since 12 March 2004.
Commander of the present 7th ACR Unit serving within PRT Logar Colonel Miroslav Hlavac assumed operational task as of the 19th February 2011. Soldiers are being deployed for six months, that is till August 2011.
The Czech PRT comprises both military and civilian parts. The core of the military part is formed by soldiers of the 43rd Airborne Mechanised Battalion (from the 4th Rapid Deployment Brigade) based at Chrudim complemented by specialists from other 28 units and installations of the Czech military.
