NATO Operation in Afghanistan
The Czech Republic operates its own Provincial Reconstruction Team in the Logar province
The Czech authorities responded to calls of allies for reinforcement of allied military presence in Afghanistan in support of success of ISAF operation in suppressing Taliban activities and in support of the Afghan Government.
The ACR have participated in the NATO International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan since 12 March 2004.
Commander of the present 8th ACR Unit serving within PRT Logar Lieutenant Colonel Pavel Andrasko assumed operational task on the 17th August 2011. Soldiers are being deployed for six months, that is till February 2012.
The Czech PRT comprises both military and civilian parts. The core of the military part is formed by soldiers of the 53rd Brigade of Reconnaissance and Electronic Warfare based at Opava complemented by specialists from other 24 units and installations of the Czech military.
