The book describes the assassination of German Nazi SS-Obergruppenführer General Reinhard Heydrich in Prague, in June 1942. At that time he served as a Reich Protector for the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, the state formation set up by Nazi regime after occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1939.
He was infamous for his fierce cruelty applied against Czech resistance movement and execution of a plan for the “final solution to the Jewish problem”. The ANTHROPOID operation was planned in the U.K. and carried out by members of the Czechoslovak Force serving in England, paratrooped to Bohemia.
