The Czech Ministry of Defence hosted a meeting between the Defence Minister Jana Černochová and her Italian counterpart Minister Guido Crosetto. The topics they discussed included the support of Ukraine, NATO’s defence and deterrence following the Washington Summit, security situation in Africa and in the Middle East, Czech-Italian defence industrial cooperation, the F-35 project and cooperation on war graves.

Defence Minister Jana Černochová participated at the NATO Summit in Washington D.C. as a member of the Presidential delegation. The Summit honoured 75 years since the inception of NATO and addressed the most pressing threats to Euro-Atlantic security.

Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic Jana Černochová met the Minister of Strategic Industry of Ukraine Oleksandr Kamyshin and Deputy Minister of Defence Lieutenant General Ivan Havryliuk as part of government-to-government consultations to discuss the current security situation and its development, support to Ukraine and bilateral cooperation in the field of defence industry.

New Director of Military Intelligence: Brigadier General Petr Bartovský

On July 1, 2024, Brigadier General Petr Bartovský was appointed the Director of the Military Intelligence. The handover ceremony took place on Friday, June 28, 2024, in attendance of Minister of Defence Jana Černochová.

Czech Republic hands command over to Spain in Slovakia

The Training Centre in Lešť hosted a significant event on Monday, 1 July 2024. The Czech Armed Forces handed over the command of the Multinational Battlegroup Slovakia (MN BG SVK) to the Spanish Armed Forces. The handover represents a significant milestone as this is Spain’s first command of a foreign operation in Eastern Europe. The structure of the battlegroup shall be expanded to brigade level (MN BDE TF SVK) with over two thousand Spanish servicemembers at its core.
