Air and ground interference simulated challenges for the Czech Armed Forces

RAMSTEIN, Germany – April 24–28, the Czech Air Forceand Land Forces participated in training drills under Electronic Warfare (EW) conditions. They were testing their ability to jam and respond to jamming. Organized under the auspices of NATO, the Ramstein Guard exercise took place in the airspace of the Czech Republic, exposing more than 200 participants to an EW environment in which they had to operate, protect themselves, ensure mission accomplishment and defend against a simulated adversary.

Minister Černochová received the Minister of Defence of Moldova

Minister of Defence Jana Černochová received today her Moldavian counterpart Anatolie Nosatîi. Their discussions focused on the assessment of the security situation in the context of the war in Ukraine and on bilateral defence and defence industrial cooperation.

Armed Forces to receive new helicopters by May

First Deputy Minister of Defence František Šulc and Czech Air Force Commander Brigadier General Petr Čepelka participated at the ceremony marking the handover of the first H1 helicopter to the Czech Armed Forces in the Bell Textron factory in Amarillo, Texas. Eight UH-1Y Venom utility helicopters and four AH-1Z Viper attack helicopters represent an important step towards the modernization of the Czech Air Force, as they shall replace the obsolete Mi 24V/35 helicopters. The first Vipers are slated for delivery in the spring of this year to the Náměšť Air Base, the Venoms shall follow.

Minister Černochová signed MoU in Lebanon, brought further material aid

Minister of Defence Jana Černochová visited Lebanon on March 16-18, 2023. With her counterpart Minister Maurice Sleem, she discussed the security situation in Europe and in the Middle East, as well as possibilities of further material aid for the Lebanese Armed Forces and security services. On this occasion, the Ministers signed the Memorandum of Understanding on mutual cooperation that will facilitate further development of the bilateral defence relations.

EU Defence Ministers discussed further support to Ukraine, tabled joint ammunition procurement in Sweden

On March 7-8th, Stockholm was the venue to an informal meeting of Defence Ministers of European Union Member States. The Czech Republic was represented by Minister of Defence Jana Černochová. The agenda comprised further assistance to Ukraine and the impact of the Russian aggression on global security. The Ministers also discussed options for collaborative procurement of ammunition for Ukraine. The working lunch was attended by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix and representatives of relevant Committees of the European Parliament. Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov attended the session in person.
