25 countries, 10 thousand personnel, 250 aircraft - the largest NATO air exercise ever takes off

State-of-the-art air assets, various types of air operations, but, above all, cooperation of twenty five NATO nations’ armed forces. That is what the multinational ten-day exercise Air Defender 2023 will deliver, as it is designed to demonstrate NATO’s solidarity and is unparalleled in its history. The Czech Armed Forces will not be missing out – all units of the Czech Air Force are joining.

V4 Defence Ministers met in the High Tatras to discuss aid to Ukraine and common projects

Hungary will join the Czech Republic and Poland in protecting Slovak airspace. The declaration was signed at the V4 meeting in Štrbské Pleso by the four Defence Ministers. This working meeting included the participation of Germany on this occasion. Minister of Defence Jana Černochová was represented by Deputy Minister Daniel Blažkovec.

Government endorses procurement of 246 infantry fighting vehicles

The Government of the Czech Republic authorised the procurement of 246 CV90 infantry fighting vehicles for CZK 59.7 billion and on the very same day, the Director General of the MoD Armaments and Acquisition Division Lubor Koudelka signed an agreement with the Swedish party. Under the leadership of Minister Černochová, the MoD contracted for the acquisition of fighting vehicles less than a year after the previous tender was discontinued. We are embarking on the realization phase nine years after the decision to procure these vehicles which are necessary to deliver the key commitments to the Alliance, that is, to build a heavy infantry brigade by 2026. We are procuring vehicles that meet the requirements of the Czech Armed Forces. The contract also ensures that the participation of the Czech defence industry will amount to at least 40% of this contract.

Minister of Defence showed Prince Edward the place of Czechoslovak paratroopers’ last battle

Minister of Defence Jana Černochová and HRH Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, visited the Saint Cyril and Methodius Cathedral and paid their respects to the memory of the brave paratroopers who carried out the attack on Reinhard Heydrich. The brother of HM King Charles III began his visit of the Czech Republic on Tuesday and met among others with President Petr Pavel.

Defence Minister Jana Černochová signed the Defense Cooperation Agreement in the Pentagon

Defence Minister Jana Černochová with her counterpart U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III signed the Defense Cooperation Agreement (DCA) in Washington DC today. After long negotiations led by the Defence Ministry and Foreign Affairs Ministry with many other Ministries and Government agencies, the DCA was endorsed by the Government in April and is now awaiting deliberation by both Chambers of the Parliament and then ratification by the President.
