On February 22, 2024, the Ministry of Defence was the venue to a working meeting between the Czech Defence Minister Jana Černochová and the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation Christopher A. Wray. In attendance of the Director of Czech Military Intelligence Jan Beroun and United States Ambassador in the Czech Republic Bijan Sabet, they primarily discussed the current security situation and the development of common cooperation.
The visit of Director Christopher Wray in Prague testifies to and underscores the importance that the FBI attaches to a sustained cooperation with international partners in countering global threats.
High quality bilateral relations with Czech defence partners particularly occur in the domains of cyber defence and sharing information in countering terrorism, such as in the FBI directed international operation Dying Ember earlier this year, in which the Czech Military Intelligence participated with an active intervention in the cyber space.
“Fast sharing of information in the broader intelligence and security communities is extremely important, including with regard to the current situation in Ukraine and the Middle East. We are up to three major sport events this year: the ice-hockey championship in the Czech Republic, European football championship in Germany and the Olympic Summer Games in Paris. Ensuring maximum security for those events is a joint priority of all parties,” Minister Černochová said.
